Sometimes life gets in the way…

Well, sometimes it does. Anyway, I’m making some more tracks soon.

I’ve been working on:

  • Colemans March
  • Salt Creek
  • Big Sandy River
  • Blakes March
  • Wagoneer
  • Rosin the Bow (or beau, depends on where you are, I guess)
  • Old Melinda
  • Dusty Sam
  • Cedar Gap

Man, thats a lot when I look at it… oh well… more to come…

February tunes almost ready

Well, I have been thinking about the tunes I’ve done and From now on I am changing the format a bit. In Bluegrass/OT Songs, I am going to take the first break and leave all the other breaks blank for you to practice with. In tunes I will play the whole thing the whole time. I figure this way its WAY more jam-like and gives you the opportunity to practice.

Anyway,

For February I am finishing up the following:

Columbus Stockade Blues – A great little rocking tune in G.

I Saw The Light – You need a few gospel songs under your belt regardless.. in G (I cant sing it in B like ole’ Bill).

Will the Circle Be Unbroken – Carter Family songs are great, even when I do them. (Again in G — the key of bluegrass)
Sunflower Scottesche – A great OT tune, Curtis Buckhannon kicks some tail on this, (hear it at the mandolin cafe’s MP3 page) its in D and G..(I am working on the TAB for this, I just got Tabledit – Thanks donators) and will be posting the tab for this once I finish it.

New look

I thgink I like this new look, i will be adding some more to it as time permits….

December Tunes

I’m doing Farewell to Inez for the OT Crowd and 9 Pound Hammer for the Grassers for December.

I just got a new multitrack and I will have these up in a few days.

If anyone wants to upload their own songs, send me an email and we can get some other folks helping out.

Official October Tune(s)

I’m going to do Both Billy in the Lowground and Midnight on the Water for October. Look for these this week….

Song Poll

Well, Lets get this started:

Here are six songs that were on the top of my head;

Billy Wilson. A nice dance tune in A. Its 3 parts, and has a great C part.

Midnight on the Water, a beautiful Waltz in D. Nice and mellow. There are some great double stop melody options in this one.

Farewell Inez, this is a great canadian tune, another waltz-y song. Great for tremelo, I have a soundclip of me playing it on John Hamletts page since you probably never heard it, unless I played it for you…

Shenandoah Falls. another great dance tune. Its in A. Its really groovy

Stoney Point, an oldtimey/bluegrassy tune. its in G, if I remember right….if im thinking o fthe right somg.. I get it confused with Stoney Creek, so….

Billy in the Lowground, in C it was the tune that go me thinking of this whole crazy thing…..

Vote on which you like, and it will be done.

Welcome

Here is what I am thinking:

There would be one tune per month.
I would make a recording of myself playing rhythm and lead.
I would leave 2 spots for you, the listener, to take breaks.
The tracks would be MP3s.
The tracks would be songs that I am working on.

The site would be free
I would accept donations, if you find it useful. (to defray bandwidth and hosting costs)

I am primarily focused on more old-timey stuff, but working with “jam standards” as well.

The recordings will have me on them (which means there may be flubs, etc in them…I’m assuming if you would be using them, you would probably be flubbing too, or else you wouldnt need them…)
